About

Local labrador breeders Kelly and Jeff Douglas with certified therapy dog chocolate lab Koda bred by Pendleton Labradors of Southern New Hampshire

Kelly & Jeff Douglas

We’re Kelly and Jeff Douglas, lifelong dog lovers with a passion for raising happy, healthy Labrador Retrievers. Our journey with dogs began long before Pendleton Labradors—our first dog together was a golden retriever named Toby, who sparked our dream of one day breeding and raising dogs.

We had always dreamed of raising and breeding dogs.  In 2013, we rescued a mother dog and her five puppies, raising the litter in our home. We raised that litter together with care, patience, and joy.  That experience deepened our love for the process and showed us the joy of nurturing dogs from their very first days. The following year, we brought home our first Labrador, marking the official beginning of what would become Pendleton Labradors from our friend, Sharon at Wigwag Labradors. From that moment, we fell in love with our beautiful, Maya and as she epitomized breed’s intelligence, gentle nature, and loyal spirit.

Our four children grew up surrounded by dogs, and for 13 years, Kelly’s home daycare provided us the privilege of watching our dogs bring calm, comfort, and companionship to the children in our care. That bond continues today—Kelly, a teacher, brings our Labrador Koda to local schools and assisted living facilities, where he provides therapy and comfort to both children and adults.

At Pendleton Labradors, we are dedicated to raising Labradors who embody the best of the breed—loving family companions, eager learners, and gentle therapy dogs. For us, it’s not just about breeding dogs; it’s about sharing the joy, comfort, and connection that Labradors bring to life.  We are forever grateful for the mentors and fellow breeders that are now friends who share our love of Labradors.  Without our community, we would not be where we are today.

Our Philosophy

At Pendleton Labradors, our philosophy centers on health, temperament, and purpose. We are dedicated to breeding Labradors that embody the best of the breed — healthy, well-balanced companions and exceptional therapy partners. Through careful selection and responsible breeding, we prioritize sound genetics, proper structure, and steady, loving temperaments.

Each of our dogs is raised with the goal of enriching lives — whether providing comfort, companionship, or a helping paw. By emphasizing health and thoughtful breeding, we ensure our Labradors are ready to become trusted friends and loyal members of the families they join.

Through the Orthopedic Foundation Association we are able to ensure our dogs are the pinnacle of health. Our dogs are certified to have strong hips and joints. This allows us to breed healthy puppies.

All of our dogs are tested for genetic diseases that Labradors are predisposed to. Through this process we can learn of possible genetic illnesses that could be passed on. We stand by our responsible breeding practices, and this is one way to ensure healthy blood lines.

Testimonials

Healthy Lab enjoying the outdoors — Pendleton Labradors New England
Waylon Renee Harriman.jpeg

"Waylon is a 2 year old male from Pendleton Labradors Bean litter on 8/25/2023. Waylon is such a big part of our family. He loves all people and all other dogs and lives for play dates with his dog friends. He is very chill and barely barks (which is nice since I work from home), and has never been destructive in the house or in the yard.

My husband and I have always had dogs and we both agree that Waylon is probably the best dog we’ve ever had. We just had our first grandchild and Waylon is so gentle and sweet with her. Our neighbor’s 8 y.o. son absolutely loves Waylon and loves making Waylon do tricks for treats. I can’t recommend Pendleton Labradors enough."

"We got our chocolate lab, Captain, from Kelly and he is now 2 1/2 years old. He has been healthy, happy, and has the most friendly and loving temperament. Captain is incredibly smart and did very well with training, which speaks to the great start he got from Kelly.

Kelly was an absolute pleasure to work with- she’s knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with patience and care. She was reliable, responded quickly, and continues to be a wonderful resource whenever we need advice. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend Kelly as a breeder!"

"About a year after our daughter acquired her black female English Labrador from Kelly of Pendleton Labradors, she told us we needed to get one and there was a new litter expected! My husband had retired and figured it was the right time for us to get a new puppy. He wrote Kelly a letter about his history of growing up with different dogs in the household. He expressed how the time was right for us empty nesters to welcome a puppy into our lives. He told Kelly just what he was looking for…a black female with a sweet disposition, beautiful composition, and on the smaller size. He wanted one just like our daughter’s dog, Rosie. Well, we got her, hand picked just for us by Kelly. That told us right there how much Kelly knows her dogs, even in their puppy stage. We named her Selkie, which means seal folk, and she’s just as beautiful as her half-sister, Rosie. She is now 2-½ years old, weighing in at 65 pounds. Selkie was recently complimented on by an admirer stating that she looked like a “well bred English Lab.” We think so! You can’t go wrong with a Pendleton Labrador."

"Reina is 3 years old. She is by far the most loving, affectionate dog I have ever had. She loves everyone and absolutely loves to have anyone rub her belly. I had a great experience with Kelly. She was always available for any questions I might have had. I would highly recommend Pendleton Labs!"
